It's really interesting to observe the changes from nature because they can also be seeing in us. The new buds From the tree.

    Thanks for the sweet comments!

The tree is ..me, it is a metaphor about my recent past. Any time now, the tree will be in full blossom again;)

    Thanks, guys:)

Hi Ingrid - as always, love your poem. So full of wisdom and life.
    - it has no knowledge of the sorrow- love this!

I enjoy the light-hearted ending - this sunny afternoon I decide to become a tree-hugging fool. - the poem changes and grow, just as with the tree

    well done!

Hi Ingrid :) so nice to see you writing again. I know you used the tree as a metaphor for yourself, I see this as a time of being reborn (as parts of you died all fall and winter) things that hurt you are the branches that become brittle. Using that exact pain you buried has made you stronger and its showing....I think its about loving yourself again. :) Hugs Ingrid. Dont think I am too far off. Very nice :)

This is absolutely engrossing. Using nature to describe the subjects despairing state thus hope surfaces; turning gloom into glee. It's very metaphorical and the rhythm is smooth like a smoothie. Crystal clear imagery, the reader can see the unfolding of the events and the feeling of sadness and happiness revolving within the poem. I love this poem so much beyond your thoughts. With humble respect, blessings to you. Cheers! :-)

'In the garden, near the river
my tree stands tall and proud
it has no knowledge of the sorrow I had
for when the branches became brittle
    I had no choice.....'
This reminded me of my mother. How she's always so worried when one of us is sick or injured, yet we didn't really notice how caring she was.. I actually find these lines really sad, I remember being small, I snuck up in my parent's room to find her praying the rosary when my dad was sick..

'all Fall and Winter it was but a naked torso
with its limbs cut off and buried underneath'
    Great imagery.

    'using that compost
my green giant became strong again
    and see....
the firstbuds are showing off their tiny little
    leaves!'
This reminded me of my mother again :) She'd be really happy whenever she's sure we're better.

'this sunny afternoon I decide to become a
    tree-hugging fool.'
I love the ending :) I love nature as well and I remember the time I found out about illegal logging and stuff that I also became a 'tree-hugger' not literally, though ;)

Great write. I can connect with this piece, and it's definitely going to my favorites :) 5/5

    Nery Nicely Penned Ingrid!!!

  • This is a great poem about nature, but then it is also so much more! It sounds as if it is a metaphor for your life (perhaps why you placed it in 'Poems about life'..?) - like you are that tree growing and changing throughout the seasons and finally coming out at the other side brand new and whole again, and no one would ever guess that you were so vulnerable for a short while.

^^I dont know if that interpretation is correct or even near reality, but I know there is definitely something else underlying the nature aspect of the poem.

    Loved it! 5/5
