Champagne Hallucinations

by Maple Tree   Mar 28, 2012

I wish to soak the darkness of an eerie past
within champagne, as my sorrow floats around
inside a decorated garnish.

Sipping away at lost feelings and emotions
drowning a broken heart of yesterday
has never been so enchanting.

However pretty and easy that all sounds
I can't bring myself to repeat history
for the bubbles explode.

More problems arise when soaked
along an alcoholic nightmare,
never have I consumed.

But the temptation is there,
and those pretty glasses invite me
for now, I'll allow those visions,

To be what they are, hallucinations,
kissing reality and feeling the pain
allows me to breathe without feeling numb....

I can see sometimes the need or want for doing drinking to take the pain away at times but in the end we don't want it to take over our lives. A heartbreaking peace. I loved it

Cheer up lovely I hope everything is alright x

Champagne soothes us for a single moment. When we open our eyes again , pain is there punching us. Some things can't be forgotten. They have to sleep with us till we are able to divorce them forever. Powerful piece sista.

This poem is stunning. I cannot think of anything you should change as this piece is perfect how it is. It's raw and edgy.

    Wow, great poem.

I admit this piece is one of the reason I love poetry. Your poem is meaningful because many suffer from the addiction of alcohol and your words draw the reader in. I agree alcohol when consume more than recommended is like sting from poison snake.
