Painful Syllables

by Hannah Lizette   Apr 5, 2012

Mascara stained cheeks,
Shaking in disbelief,
Clenced fists, knotted blanket,
Screaming silently.

Words cut deep,
No blood, no wounds,
Just painful syllables.

"I'm sorry" doesn't cut it,
too much damage has been done,
Heartbreak, unworthy feelings,
You never forget the words a man says when he's angry.

Fat, Stupid, Ugly, B--ch

Scaring your beauty,
Imprinting your self-esteem,
Depression seeping in,
Lingering constantly.

Cutting deeper,
Heart still raw,
"I'm sorry" begins again,
Only this time as I'm walking out the door.

  • This one is one of my top favourites of yours!
Your raw emotion has been expressed flawlessly.
A little bit of imagery; a little bit of rhyme. Perfect!

You speak such truth. We dont forget what a guy says in his moments of anger. He can say sorry all he likes, but he cannot take it back. And it stains our minds and only worsens the next time.
