Burnt Words

by PinkyPrincess   Apr 5, 2012

She holds a paper in her hand,
and tries to explain herself.
As the argument escalates,
he interrupts her every word.

She had written every memory,
traced every scar she ever had.
Her life bled onto the paper,
but it still didn't dry up her pain.

He adds pieces of wood to a fire,
while she stares blankly at it.
She decides to recite her poem;
she trembles with every word.

His blood-shot eyes widen in disbelief
with all of his skeletons being painted.
She mumbles the last chapter of her life,
while he crumbles the handwritten paper.

He throws the unfinished poem
into the burning, flaming fire.
She watched as her most tragic feelings
vanished into burnt ashes...

Her past disappeared right before her eyes,
yet it still haunts her every thought.

Wow, Sara.... So powerful and I can relate. I just recently found old pictures and poems about someone who meant a lot to me at one point... and now they're just burnt ashes, but memories of that person still haunt me to this day. It's quite scary.

    Take care, hun.

Ohhh Sara, what a title you got. It got me curious to ream what you meant by it. I loved it so much. The idea behind it was so deep and thoughtful, it just flowed to an ease.

    Great job sweetie. :)
