    Yup, never lose hope.
Interesting piece, I like the flow of this poem. Though, I wonder what the S... means.

Edit: I'm still wondering, but I did find this piece sad. I think that smiles are truly genuine when they are seeing with the eyes, rather than the lips.

I'm with Everlasting on this one Mr. Lonely, what is the 'S' I have noticed while reading here some poets capitalize the S in funny places in their poems and I wonder if anyone else has noticed- and if there is any connection to the S in this poem...
Enjoyed the poem, esp. these lines:

    Sometimes I long
    for a friendly smile
    on cold days
    to reignite
    the warmth
    held within my heart

enjoyed this one from you, although I dont comment very much, just know I do read you :) Take care n God bless!

"S..." stands for "snub", which I did not want to pen down in the poem as I hate to put a blame on anyone other than myself when I fail in my attempt to gain a simple friendship, nothing more. Hope it answers your qns. Thanks for your comments.

I thought this poem was well done.

    I sometimes
    question myself
    Why do people
    forsake
    a gesture
    of simple friendship
    with a s...
    Maybe
    I have forgotten
    How to look at myself
    in my rearview mirror

    ^^
I like this right here. It is different when it comes to friendships. We wonder why people act the way they do.

    Sometimes I long
    for a friendly smile
    on cold days
    to reignite
    the warmth
    held within my heart
    but, I am afraid
    I may have lost mine
    in the morass
    of false hopes
    in arduous times

But, hope and faith in men
    I will never ever lose

And I thought this was a great ending. Really shows that you never lose hope in people that they will turn around from what their doing. All in all a great write. :)

^Yeah, there are times like this where each one of us feel and we yearn for that one little smile that understands all..which just lifts the weight of sadness within our hearts...touching.

    but, I am afraid
    I may have lost mine
    in the morass
    of false hopes
    in arduous times

^There is so much happening around us and we are been tested time after time that we lose whatever that is left within us..I can understand this.

But, hope and faith in men
    I will never ever lose

^Hope and faith..that is all that we have and if we lose that too then there is no point in this so called life..liked the ending as it leaves the reader with some positiveness!

    David,
It is amazing how much one word can mean to someone. The word hope itself, as a title is brilliant. It makes me want to read your poem and wonder what it is you are hoping for. I have many hopes and unfortunately I know that the majority of them won't come true.
I love the simplicity in you words - of course though there was one where I actually never heard of which was arduous. Though I am glad you put that in there because it fit the poem very well and the word itself is quite unique.

    "Sometimes I long
    for a friendly smile
    on cold days
    to reignite
    the warmth
    held within my heart"
This makes me think of people out there who aren't friendly. It doesn't take a lot to smile at someone because it could make their day. It is a simple and beautiful gesture but I've noticed that in Sydney, it is hard to get a smile out of some people because everyone seems to be in some kind of rush!!!
I love the ending, telling us that you still have hope in man. Awesome write David I LOVE IT

I've just finished a "sad poem" that's took a fair amount of hope & faith out of me..... But!
