Daughters

by Mr Rhee   Apr 8, 2012

One is named after a song,
her sister, after a flower.
I think of their names
and a smile comes to me.

The song tells a story about
how she brings me love,
and lifts me when I'm down,
and I can do the same for her.

And, truly, I can think of her
voice, or her laghter,
or her quirky smiles,
and my day just gets better.

Her sister, I named after
a beautiful, blue rose.
A flower so unique, so rare,
its beauty lies in its very existance.

For some, blue means sweet sorrow.
For me, blue is sweet beauty,
like her deep, soulful, eyes.
Eyes that captured me so fully.

My beautiful daughters,
my beautiful daughters.
You make my world complete,
and worth living in.

Both gifts from their mother.
Both, gifts from God.
Smile for me,
my beautiful children.

I enjoyed reading this piece and it gave a smile when I read the word daughters because that makes this poem really special. It adds a personal touch and it feels real. I also like that you use flowers and her names and also colors to describe her eyes.

now on a critique side, I feel that you only need to focus on the flow of the poem aside from that the ideas are sweet and lovely.

    Focus on things like this,
the following was taken from your poem

"its beauty lies its very existance"

its beauty lies in its very existence..
I think this way sounds better.

Great poem filled with love for your daughters, I hope they can read it some day.

Truly only a father knows the joy these words can bring, just the power of pure love unrequited between parent and child. It's a truth everyone knows, they brighten the world and make lives better for the good. Marvellous verses.

"And, truly, I can think of her
    voice, or her laghter,
    or her quirky smiles,
and my day just gets better."

It's nice when something so simple can bring such joy is it not, just the thought that a simple smile can brighten a day goes to show the little things do indeed matter, more so than the rest sometimes.

"for some, blue means sweet sorrow.
For me, blue is sweet beauty,
    like her deep, soulful, eyes.
Eyes that captured me so fully."

I think it's lovely that you can take something that's portrayed as a dim, sorrowful colour and relate it to something that can brighten a day.

    "My beautiful daughters,
    my beautiful daughters.
    You make my world complete,
    and worth living in.

    Both gifts from their mother.
    Both, gifts from God.
    Smile for me,

I don't think anything more needs to be said, it's nice to see people appreciate what they have, there are those that don't. Great poem, well done.

When you love someone, just thinking bout them makes you happy. Great introduction, you tell more about your bundles of joy, thats lovely.

She is always there for you in times of need, whenyou are down, she is there to lift you back up. this is a nice dedication to your daughter, hope they get to read this and see how much you adore them.

the ending was wonderful as well, acknowledging that you cant live without them in this world, they make your world whole and complete. Very wonderfully written and very sweet.
