When the Sun Shined Again

by Maple Tree   Apr 29, 2012

Your thoughts were scattered
as the mind played tricks
upon your very soul-
you left me
standing alone
and drove away
in silence-

Somebody new, a fresh
young thing, bounced
into your life and
allowed you to escape
reality and us-
and you left me,
as the snow covered
my broken heart.

Snow boots and tears
are all that stood between
your fake happiness
and my harsh abandonment,
as I swallowed eleven months
of grief, I never stopped loving you-

Now, I write this confession,
proud of my determination
of staying true to my heart,
as I write this poem in peace,
for I shall never be alone again,
thank you for coming back home,
because standing in the snow is
much better when I'm holding
your hand....

Oh my what a beautiful poem. I adored the feeling it gave me at the end. As if it was a happy ending and a love that was meant to be.

    Awesome!!!

"thank you for coming back home,

...I am so jealous that is not mine...
aah, you always capture me with your simplicity
yet honesty all rolled in one.

    so much beauty.

    Andrea,
Really, I don't know how to comment...

I loved the determination, in your words, I felt many things...how one could interprate this as not only being about a loved one but my take that you were speaking to yourself...and how you had found yourself, as you aged...

    reminds me of
    Jessie J-My Shadow

but really, the flow was awesome...
    and the words fit perfectly.
