Past the Place

by A Poets Handwriting aka ALISHA   Jun 1, 2012

It happened by accident really, not by intent.
The place where your last moments were spent,
I travelled past; saw the flowers, the photographs;
I can only imagine you smiling, all the laughs...

Seems a decade since it occurred; it seems surreal...
But I know it happened; all the sadness I still feel...
Drove past the place where your life just ended...
The cost of one night; it can never be mended...

I saw the flowers, and held it together this time.
Memories flowed, but you're always on my mind.
How we met, years ago; this all just seems so fake.
One night of joy, turned into the worst mistake...

It happened by accident really, not by intent.
Drove past the last place that you ever went...
No chance to say goodbye, life was taken fast.
Drove past the place, where you were seen last...

    This feeling I know very well and it is indeed very painful to revisit a place where a loved one passed away.

    Well written!
