Lost Angel

by Marquesas   Jun 2, 2012

Flying through this black sky that is life
I search for a guiding light, to no avail
My wings are worn, my heart grown cold
It seems I have been searching forever
Ready to give in, ready to fall
Fall endlessly in the dark abyss
Suddenly, I can see a faint sparkle
A slim shimmer, barely visible
Yet unmistakeable and real
Straining myself I race toward my new destination
As I grow closer, the light becomes blinding
It is harsh, I close my eyes but race even faster
The light softens and I stop, slowly opening my eyes
Before me is a fair maiden in white
She looks at me with her beautiful, deep eyes full of compassion
I look at myself, clothing tattered, hair ruffled
Skin coated in scars and bruises
The lovely maiden opens her arms to me
I hesitate, am I worthy of a treasure of this magnitude?
She nods, as if to silently say it's all right
Floating into her arms I slip into a state of mind I've never known
Bliss, comfort, and ease.
Tears swell in my eyes as I begin to weep
I rest my weary wings
This lost angel is found
