My Sweet Avery

by Tyler Moore   Jun 16, 2012

Laughter's shadow tried to smile
as Sadness sat to cry;
Longing made me wonder,
while Confusion just asked "Why?"

Fear went into hiding
as Anger waved his fists.
Hope asked for an alternative
while Love just blew a kiss.

Courage kept me standing
as I looked down at her face;
"How could you let this happen?"
so sorely said Disgrace.

Blame chimed in and asked me too,
"What if the truth, you had told her?"
"She'd have taken his love, instead of her life"
said Despair offering up his shoulder.

I stepped back from the coffin, could bare them no more
a final goodbye to my sweet Avery,
with the softest of kiss, I laid on her cheek
and left hand in hand with just Misery.
