Fades to Black

by Scrittore   Jul 7, 2012

What a way to wake up in a middle of a mistake
With a lingering taste, an old familiar face in your mind
We see the rosey shades fade to black
Grasping at an idea of faultless love

And I wonder how we got here
And I wonder how I didn't know
Slowly you were stripping away my essence
Burning down to ashes my very soul

And I wonder

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, my love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never were
My love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black

We tried the old fashion way
So we waited for that one big day
When life was suppose to change for the better
We see the dimming colored shades fade to black
Grasping at the hope for a happier tomorrow

And I wonder why I loved you
And I wonder why I didn't care
That slowly you were stripping away my essence
For your love - all these things I would bear.

But I can never know

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, my love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never were
My love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black

Was there any hope from the start?
Shouldn't I have known this was all just too hard.
There was no chance at all
Cause after all...
I was never never good enough... My love could never carry us

It fades to black
Our love - fades to black
Never good enough
We fade to black
We fade to black
My love was just not strong enough

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, my love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never were
My love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black

And I wonder what would have changed
if you would have just loved me the same.

Original

What a way to wake up in a middle of a mistake
With a lingering taste, an old familiar face in your mind
We see the different shades fade to black
No longer able to look back
At what could have been

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, our love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never was
Our love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black

We tried the old fashion way waiting for the day
When everything was suppose to change
We see the colored shades fade to black
Nothing ever changed
We can never look back

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, our love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never was
Our love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black

Could it have changed if I was a new woman
What would have changed if I was ever enough
I've wrapped my mind around it
I just was never good enough,
Never good enough

It fades to black
Our love - fades to black
Never good enough
We fade to black
We fade to black

What could have been, what would have been
We'll never know, our love was just not enough
What we should have been
What we never was
Our love just was not strong enough
And it all fades to black
