The life she knows

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 9, 2012

She lets him call her awful names.
She lets him drag her across the floor.
She lets him play his evil games.
She knows she isnt worth much more.
She hides the bruises on her face.
She lies about each new scar.
She learns that he just likes the chase.
She believes this is how men are.
She knows that she must make it end.
She knows people wont truly understand.
She knows the damage he could send.
She lets him take her by the hand.
She begs him to let her go
She gets told he owns her now.
She wishes someone else could know.
She just doesnt know how.
She feels his fist against her cheek.
She knows that she is weak.
Helpless, defenseless,
It's the only life she knows.

Hopefully, you have managed to rid him from your life, because he is clearly not worth it when he hurts you so. Staying in this kind of relationship is damaging, mentally, physically, socially... and no one deserves to feel unsafe.
Love is meant to be beautiful, not hateful.

    Well penned. 5/5

Wow.. I am in love with your poetry. This reminds me of a man that was married to my mom, and he was kind of an alcoholic, so it never stopped till he kicked us out. xD I love this poem. You done a great job!
