Jenni

by Chelsey   Jul 24, 2012

I wished to title this poem
Something sincere, something genuine
Yet, what is more angelic than your name?
I've laid in bed questioning the unquestionable,
Who God, can direct my focus off of past mistakes,
past regrets, and these disintegrating memories?
Brought forth was my answer, my precious-
Jenni

I have found myself locked behind doors and walls,
No, not in a house, or the walls of a steeple,
though I have played slave to those too,
but inside the corridors of my very mind
I've been chased out by ghosts of people who once
claimed to love me, but weren't afraid to leave
It's as if you knew, my cherished-
Jenni

My days have brightened and smiles have covered
the spot where my lips once drooped
Due to the majestic ways of your character,
there's a new hope that lives inside this rusted heart
I'm not sure you'll understand the gratitude I hold
that overwhelms me daily, my treasured-
Jenni
