A Friday Night in Malk St.

by nouriguess   Jul 30, 2012

Do you see the lights, grandpa? See
them? They're
dying with your cry, the night is
coming over and we don't have
fine wine anymore - our wounds
swallowed it all.
How will we irrigate its stars?
I could only weep by the window
and I hope that's enough.
Do you see pigeons beneath you? That's
me saying hello, or perhaps it's
Syria missing you.
Pigeons, pigeons, grandpa.
Syria and the scent of my childhood
against your shoulder. Syria, old man.
You remember?

Do you see the lights
reflecting on our window pane?
Do you see our war in the name of
freedom, grandpa? You once
taught me that shackles are mostly
from inside of us,
but why don't they listen?

I'm sick of blood.
I'm sick of Syria. Have you ever
loved someone till hate, grandpa?
I feel as though she abandoned me, she
left me behind like the remains of
a dead blackbird and it hurts...
It hurts.

Our A.M. is here already
but I can't see it.
I can't see it,

grandpa.

I have no words, this just has to be your strongest or one of them at least, I am honestly on the verge of tears. So unique, the title too drew me in, and so heartfelt...the fact that you are speaking to your grandpa too, wondering, remembering is just too beautiful. There's just so much pain here, feeling of deep loss, and how change has happened over and over again to your dear country. Flawless flow.......this has just soul-reaching!! I wish I would have read this earlier to vote on it, but it's the weekend here, otherwise you'd have my nomination

5/5, keep it up girl :]

I wish I had votes left.

I think this is amongst your best writes to date... maybe even ur best right? I dunno.. you have so many beautiful writes to just pick one. But this is like a bomb of sadness that blew in my eyes, soul, and heart.

    Beautiful
