Young Obituaries (Alphabet Poem; Elegy; Couplet)

by A Poets Handwriting aka ALISHA   Sep 2, 2012

Abbreviated life
Broken families, strife

Car accidents destroy
Drink driving brings no joy

Ending young lives everyday
Family and friends the ones who pay

Girls, boys, there is no preference
Hurting will only have one reference

Innocuous driving leaves stains
Justice rarely reduces pain

Kids never leaving childhood
License responsibility misunderstood

Manslaughter... Murder... they're still dead
Never new memories to fill our head

Obituaries fill newspapers pages
Placing names, deaths and ages

Questions go unanswered
Reactions of sorrow blurred

Simple rules have been incurred
Time to finally make them heard

Ubiquitous onslaught of despair
Vehicles misused, it's so unfair

Wrecking families, breaking hearts
Xylography crosses leave just a part

Young yanked from lives they once embodied
Zest removed from their hollowed bodies
