The Memory

by Adelle   Sep 2, 2012

When I go back home
I long to remember
The sand beneath my feet
The tireless ocean surrounding me,
The roar of the sea
When I lie down at night
The memory, the memory

Upon the cliffs at sunset
As the day draws into night
I want to remember
The cool water under my feet
Of rock pools, so many, so deep
I want to remember
The memory, the memory

At sunset the beauty of the world
It is made so clear to me,
And I know it's time, I must go
I'll hold on tight to
The memory, the memory

Very nice poem. I enjoyed reading your piece...the repetition of the lines gives it a natural rhythm! Well penned!

A beautiful piece. I don't know if it was meant to be melancholy, but I felt a twinge of sadness as I read it and I thought that was lovely because so many poems are just so blunt and obvious that there's nothing to figure out in the poem, but you really allow the reader to feel whatever comes up for them.

    Good job!
