Arome de l'amour

by Larry Chamberlin   Sep 4, 2012

The air is heavy with your perfume
pulls me to you like a homing dove
each time I hearken to your scent
evokes the ardor of nascent love.

What a beautiful short poem :)

First, I love the title, it attracted my eye. I love how you started this poem, I could really feel everything you wrote.. and I remember smelling someone's perfume in the air and how strong it is. I like how the perfume pulls you to this person. I had to look up the word nascent, and I absolutely loved the meaning. This poem was almost like "love at first scent or smell" lol, and I like that.. love at first sight is too cliche, so this was a nice idea.

Really enjoyed this! Great job :)

      Thanks, Sara.
I used "ardor" and "nascent" both for their own meanings and also as visual/aural allusions to "odor" and "nasal"-"scent," thereby subliminally strengthening the aroma factor.

Is this fighting over "Sir Larry"?
How about if every calls me "Larry"?
      Or "Lar-Bear" per Jane
      Or @&%(@$ per my brother
or old fart per my dog
