Entwined, keeping us afloat.

by Krista   Nov 5, 2012

Do you remember that night we sailed the seas?
Hidden under a blanket of stars and the
warm, rising sea breeze against our cheeks.
We floated like two lost explorers,
unintentionally mapping a new path.
Our hearts were connected and we
balanced like dancers between them.
We took each step along the wires,
longing for support to not fall into
the pitch black sea below us.

We planned and dreamed on the open water,
choosing never to return to what we knew.
This new journey was something beautiful
like the song escaping from your guitar.
We sang a quiet melody that drifted
out ahead of us, becoming our guiding light.
We became captives to the wide waters,
hostages to newly mended souls and
chains broken over guarded hearts.
Our minds were entwined like the boat

keeping us afloat.
