Innocent smiles [double tanka]

by Amreen   Nov 5, 2012

An old class photo
picturing innocent smiles
which vary in the
way they conceive the call of
the cameraman to preen.

Today it gave me
a message of life to learn.
God gifted us all
life; and its fate relies
on the way we perceive it.

I love when people incorporate photos in poetry, that may be because I'm a photographer, though.. haha. It works nicely here, it really does. I love looking back at old school photos and remembering who I was then and how different I am now...as well as my classmates.

It's true, we are all a child of God, he gave us the best gift to ever receive - life...as well as the gift to live it how we choose. <3

    Awesome form!

Wow, how deep and true your words ring, Amreen!

I have often said we all live on the same planet, but each of us live in a different world and you seem to truly understand this, reading what you wrote here!

Yes, indeed we need to give meaning to our lives all by ourselves and draw meaningful things onto the perfect, cleat slate that He provided us with.

    Very, very well done!

I love how you incorporated the scheme of a photograph in delivering your message. Short and concise and got a smooth rhythm attached to it. Great imagery you created.

Life is like a photograph, it reminds one of different aspects of ones existence. Whether remeniscing good moments or thinking about bad times in life. It triggers diverse emotions of what one encounters. Whatever the circumstances we find ourselves, everything that has a beginning has an ending.

The way photographs have an impact to us that's how some memories impact us in our lives. Through these means, positivity; success, marriage, prosperity, birth, education, source of livelihood, visualized objectives and actualised dreams or negativity; trials/tribulations, heartbreaks, sickness, death, unemployment and uncertainty in goals.

Well thought out, a cleverly crafted piece. Great!
