Shatter

by Kurt   Nov 9, 2012

Despair savages a defenseless heart
Previously weakened from months apart
An ex-lover's toxic, venom coated remarks
Fade a world from gray to dark

A world now cast away into the black
Its passion, its glow, never coming back
Bright hopeful eyes lose their brilliance
As shadows slither past all resilience

Grievously wounded, one reflection remains
Desperately surviving, although in vain
When frantically searching for a reason to matter
It shatters
