A Special Veterans Day

by Jack Nightengale   Nov 12, 2012

"I want to thank you for serving in the armed forces! Thank you!"

Yes,being in the military, I want to say thank you,
To my brothers and sisters past, present, foreign and domestic.
For your unwavering service and you will to stay true,
Always maintaining a professional look and staying majestic.

Although the true veteran is not the service member.
A true veteran are the ones we are far away from but always remember.
To the teachers upholding a sense of law and giving us school lesson,
People who always pulled us aside and let us know if we were doing something wrong.
The people that would be there after a spanking to help the pain lessen,
To those who showed us that no matter where we go or how long we're gone that there is always a place where we belong!

Our siblings and spouses for putting up with the silly fights and arguments.
which we don't make it easy since we leave little to no room for agreements.

Most importantly to the mothers that raised us to the best of their ability,
Giving a hard hand when needed and never showing us their greatest vulnerability.
Though through all the hard times and the bad keeping a smile that gave us hope,
Always cut us slack and allowed us to hang ourselves with our own rope.

For Veterans Day, I want to thank you!
Thank you Mom, for always supporting me and always staying true!
More loyal than any service member or brethren,
Mom, you are a true Veteran!

*dedicated to the mothers, teachers and family members of service members foreign and domestic.*

*compassion is a persons strongest weapon, it shows that in the face of peril one can still be kind to his enemies"
