Pep Talk

by Melissa   Nov 19, 2012

I quit romance!

I'm taking my love and my poetry
to a new leaf,
no more weeping like a Willow.

I am a stubborn Oak. Mentally grounded. Unswaying.

You could climb me
and blow thoughts from my nest,
but I will not quiver
when you straddle my spine
with that cool, sweet breath,
no fruit will drop from these limbs.

My bark is rigid with indifference,
sappy,
and bored of your long-winded pauses.
