Children in the Mist

by Maple Tree   Dec 15, 2012

I feel disconnected

from a world locked

in tragedy, blackness

holds a new meaning

for me today, for I see

little ones, holding candles

lost between the trees of

mist and fog, searching

for their parents to hold

them tight, and end this

confusion; I feel their

pounding heartbeats,

shuffling along an eternal

bridge, frozen stones

sting the warmth of bare

toes, they wander alone

searching for home,

I can't reach them-

but I hear them whisper, Help us ~

I saw Hellon's comment on this after adding her to my favourite authors, and again, this poem also has me in tears. Again, a moving tribute, and I'm going to come back to this one also once I'm not crying about it.

Well penned Andrea...innocent souls lost forever in a dangerous world. So sad.

This has affected everyone in some way or another. The death of a child is always hard to deal with be it due to war or accidental but when it comes to sensless murder in mass proportions it is unbearable and totally unacceptable.

I never thought of their little souls wandering around looking for their parents...broke my heart to think of it so, you have taken a different spin on it which was very creative.

I'd love to say I enjoyed this read Andrea for it's very well written but...I think we both wish there was no need to write of such a thing...

Andrea, this was absolutely heartbreaking and you bring so much pain into your poem....these tiny and growing lives should not have been separated, forced to leave, taken in a second. What a tribute, this came straight from the soul and I can only offer my prayers too.....your words held so much emotion- especially the descriptions that I know will be haunt many.

Heartbreaking, just heartbreaking... sweet innocent lives taken too soon... my heart weeps for all those lost and for their families... may they all find peace...
