Christmas Wonderment...

by Dreamofolwin   Dec 19, 2012

Sneaking quietly down the stairs...
In pink pyjamas with teddy bear,
Tucked up tightly underneath my arm;
He always keeps me safe from harm.

I tiptoe down but what to see?
Something wonderful, that glistens for me.
I see the door slightly ajar;
And my heart just quickens as I glimpse its star.

I open the door then and my eyes just gaze...
In wonderment, I am amazed.
At all the colours sparkling with glee;
For me upon the Christmas tree.

I sit and watch, teddy and me...
As I sit him carefully upon my knee.
And share this moment lost in time;
In my childhood heart its so devine...

Just being captured by the magic and joy,
That Christmas brings, not just by toys...
But in wonderment, to realise
The smaller joys from a child's eyes.

    Another great poem with so much positive energy. Rather than watching news in today's world....we all should read your poems instead.

    Loved it dear.

    How right you are Olwin. To see what a child sees and to feel that wonder and awe is a magical feeling. Very vividly penned..another enjoyable read :)

    Very nice Olwin. Children's faces on Christmas morning are full of wonderment and joy.
