poem #63

Like a fighting army frontline we go,

Trudged on by time courage duty and will:

Brutal beaten shot at pushed down so low,

Against all odds no chance we press on still:

Desert of life draining our souls' aspect,

Whether in down pours of rain and hailstone;

Members threaded together by respect,

Mirrors reflect brilliance of minds outshone;

Memories of deeds performed by us proceed,

Highest records charted Poets success;

Open volumes of our work and read,

That's right we're better than the rest!

So long as these school walls are built to stand,

Young Poets' Club be heard across the Land ...

    Hello,

    Thanks for your comment on mine, I am also afraid to mistake the iambiac pentameter for the other one... it's hard to write it and to identify it. I think you did good on this poem, the flow is really good as well as the content. I do have one critique though

    On this lines I counted different syllables.

    Memories (3) of (1) deeds (1) performed (2) by (1) us (1) Proceed (2) = 11

    Open (2) Volumes (2) of (1) our (1) work (1) and (1) read (1) = 9

    Other than the above critique, this is well written. 5/5

      OOPs! Your right! Poetry is HARD!

      That's one reason I don't like free verse, you can write anything and you can't be wrong. How lovely, its nice never being able to be wrong, but that's not Reality!!!

      This poem was written as an example to my students. I tell them that I would never give them an assignment that I wouldn't do myself. It was written in an hour, before bed because I had class the next day, so there's my excuse LOL!
