Castle

by Andrew Packard   Jan 8, 2013

Castle

High upon the Hill,
A Mansion stands Leering.
Fate brought Still,
A Man stands Queering.

Elation slipping to dismay,
Admiration turns to Angst.
Desire fades Away,
Sinking feeling all is Lost.

Inside the walls are amiss,
Seven years have now passed.
Vapor Trails of Princess,
Mirrored reflections of the Past.

Summer Looms on the Horizon,
Another Long Hot dry Drought.
Whispering waves tease and beckon,
Just Three more months to do without.

Array of Plans Lay Undone,
This King grows weary of his castle.
Hopeless sulking sullen Sultan,
Return a Queen to this Temple ....

Seriously the flow of the stanzas drew me in and did not disapoint. The ending i like because of the mysterious Queen.
