Soccer

by Andrew Packard   Jan 20, 2013

Cut Grass in the Air,
Shoes slide across dew.
Folding Arm Chair,
Feet Soaked Through and Through.

P. A. Announces,
Players take the Field.
Fans Beam Faces,
Seal Revealed Unsealed.

Players at Face-off,
Their plans are to Crush!
Turn and Kick-off,
Adrenaline Rush.

Ball arched through the air,
Black-and-white dissolved.
Arduous Affair,
Dig in Pass devolved.

Offense takes it down,
No Block Interrupts.
Goalie Showdown,
Crowd Cheers Noise Erupts!

My youngest son plays soccer. This is his fourth team. He played yesterday, was upset that he lost. Watched the Columbus Crew lose last night as well. I've been writing poetry for almost a year and I self-published a volume of my first 33 poems last month entitled "Meanderings of a Soul Drenched Mind" Love all you poets!
