Found

by onethuscome   Jan 27, 2013

Many an hour I have spent
with eyes glued to some book
from which I'd gather wisdom
I valued all I took

then one day I was sitting
under the sun nigh the sea
with pen in hand and notebook ready
I set on a page to read

when suddenly looking about
careless as we often do
I spied a gull in the breeze
gliding high across sky blue

within seconds of taking notice
I laid that book down
and set myself a walking
not to seek but for having found

Wisdom isn't found in a book,
    we shouldn't exactly seek
Whatever we may need will find us
    At the appropriate time.

That's what I gather from this piece.

    Nice imagery.

Though I've chosen to write poems in all lowercase before, I think proper grammar would do this poem justice. It is so very well written that it would be a shame for readers to be lost in the lack of punctuation and capitalization without gathering the wonderful, spritely wisdom just within reach.
Truly lovely poem. It has given me an adventuresome inkling... I especially like the end.

Seekers never find what they're looking for.

I wasn't sure where you were going to go with this after the first stanza, but you brought about a really nice close and a poignant message as well. thanks for sharing!
