Sturm und Drang (tanka)

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 24, 2013

Give me stormy days;
too much of placidity
makes souls dissipate;
life requires adversity
to carve strength from character.

    Ahhh right Larry...from German to English its "storm came and"...never did get the hang of it at school. Love the combo of storm and stress.

    I love this Larry.
    Regarding the title, at first I thought a typo but its German isn't it...sturm und drang means "storm came and" so now I'm not sure
    Very very nice Tanka. Quite refreshing

    Just checking Larry- Do you have a typo in your title? you have "und" should it be "and" ?

    I truly love and adore the message here Larry! The feeling I get is that you have to go through storms in your life to enjoy the sunny days? I really love the word usage here as well... very nice tanka!!!

      Too much is made of sunny days. It is the storms in our lives that make it worthwhile.
