Adieu, My Love

by Jad   Feb 25, 2013

Your chilling breath brushes against my skin
as our frozen moments begin to rend,
but blanketing the forest in white apparel
my affair has already begun to sail.

She kisses with tantalizing passion,
embracing my forest in her compassion
with sun dropped smiles, my valleys bloom again
My Love, our sin must soon end.

Your eyes plunged me beneath icy waves,
but soon my heart shall be saved.
Till then be relentless in your tides
your blizzards are promising to my country sides.

Alas our winter melodies are sung away
and how I wish you could stay
but my nose is teased by springs scent
so adieu, My Love, our days came and went.

For spring has captured my soul!

The poem intrigued me very much! It also made me laugh a bit I love winter and she is a cruel mistress I can testify to that. The poem made me think of lovers I know it's winter and then it's almost spring but darned if I'm not thinking of lovers and then comes the wife and (my mind is insane I admit), the mistress has your body but the wife has your heart and soul that being said I love how you gave winter a life of it's own and made her into a "girl" describing what "she" does and how "she" affects you truly beautiful I must say!! 5/5

P.S. I never thought I could see my love (winter) written so beautifully penned!

    Let's see

I enjoyed it. It's kind of similar to how I write. In metaphors and comparisons. Well, actually I don't have a special style but different ones. Anyhow...

There was a line that got me thinking:

Alas our winter melodies are sung away
and how I wish you could say

^^ do you wish "you"(she/he) could say or stay?

I thought you may have wished for her to stay but alas your nose is already in love with the spring scents...

The narrative seems to come from a country, directed to the winter season. The winter seems to describe the lover who is cold and also the season in which this happened.

(Though you know what came to mind,

The country could be considered a player! He may love four. First winter, then spring, then summer and finally the fall. Autumn is going to fall for the country. Winter is going to melt for the country. Spring is going to blossom and summer is going to get hot? Lol I'm kidding. )

There are several thoughts one can gather from this piece. That's why I like it even more. And in a way, in glad I'm via phone rather than laptop otherwise, I would probably have written everything that came to mind.

Well done with this piece. You use the country and the season to symbolize the love that comes and goes. In this case, the love that is now gone.

I like the mixture of human/nature love here. It reads so beautifully with nice imagery to hold onto...keep penning.

This is really wonderful poem in that it has the reader tricked into thinking it is a "love" poem and it a way it is, a love of a season, Winter and its demise so that Spring takes over. More writers should take note and see how poetry is written and the use of a metaphor can be a good and natural thing.
