A Note to my Best Friend

I wish that I could tell it like you do,
because the need to splash color
has always been my thing, but not you.

Your thoughts are as real as they come,
I'm going to honor you dear Momma
by writing what I feel at this very moment.

As you know, I've always embraced death,
I see you, frail, slipping away,
and nothing can erase that sort of pain.

I suppose the house my father in law is building
in the sky is almost ready for you to move in,
I'm a bit selfish, because I want you to come
home again, with us.

Today Momma I'm not going to write weird
as you say often, or cover up thoughts with
metaphors, this is as real as I can get.

Thank you, for being the best Mother in Law a woman
could ever have, for being a best friend and side kick
to me.

Nobody sings "You are my sunshine" like you do
and these tears I shed are because I really cant
bare to lose you, I know you know... but I'm going
to say it again, I love you Momma- thank you for
believing in me, and accepting all my oddity's as
diamonds... and may you always whisper sweetness
to me, even when you reach the other side.
