Breakaway

by Lu Tinson   Apr 3, 2013

This town has got me hung up on strings
I'm like a puppet hanging in the wind
Blowing through my bones like my existence is dust
Mind hypnotised by what I think I should trust

But this home isn't comfort any more, I need more
I can feel the world calling when I close my front door
To shaded skies I gaze and hope for the best
Without realising the truth that is I've settled for less

Break from these strings and walk into the wind
You don't get anywhere without trying my friend
Stop praying to the dark sky and search for the light
It will burn through this normality and set it alight

I left my mind open to be ruled by this life
But now I take control and take the world in my stride
Now the wind can't rattle my bones like before
And those strings that cut my wrists don't hang me up no more

The beauty's beat the beast
And showed it's face amongst the crowd
I take the world by the hand
Unlock the door and look around
