In Your Dark Corner

by Hellon   Apr 9, 2013

Crouch down low
constantly rocking
to and fro
to and fro

sometimes I pray...

May the night engulf this haunted mind
let darkness cloak a trembling thought
where ashes and dust to cobwebs cling
entwined within memories, distraught.

Dreamless slumber escapes this soul
forever lost in desolate abyss
restlessly walking life's dark corridors
a place where lullabies don't exist.

Shadows cast upon the wall
hands in welcome finally extend
caressing fingers stroke lifeless form
let eternal sleep be your friend.

Crouch down low
no more rocking
to and fro
to and fro

Huh. I am very surprised by this poem. Usually I don't like reading dark poetry, but I enjoyed reading this very much. It's well penned without turning into a strange, nonsensical rambling or a personalized grandiose display of self pity.
Nicely done, Hellon. Terribly dark, eerie, and story-like in nature.
