Dependence and Independence [String Tanka]

Being totally
independent on others,
you're isolated.
Thus others can't be with you,
neither in grief nor gladness

On the other hand,
being fully dependent,
you'll have less freedom,
thus can't have ability
to make your own decision

The best moral is
to be cooperative
in such a way that
we keep helping each other
one for all and all for one

    Very true. You can't be fully one or the other. You can't be totally independent because you will be closed off from the world - family and friends. If you are totally dependent, you will have resentment from the ones you love because you always depend on them to do things for you instead of doing them yourself.

    You need balance to be able to be happy. You need to be able to be independent in some areas of your life, in others depending on loved ones so they feel wanted/needed... and also because sometimes, you just can't do everything by yourself. It's human nature.
