Fair Verona

by rachael   May 26, 2013

In a moment we shared
In a moment we loved
And for an hour we gave our hearts
For an hour we said 'I am yours'

For the love of the chase
For the love of the pursuit
We held ourselves
From offending moral

And still we knew
And still we stowed
That we were yet without
That we were yet wanting

"Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you
Do not arouse or awaken love
until it so desires"

And in Fair Verona we sit
And in time we walked its
back streets and byways
Where we reminisced and
Where we remembered

Of a time nigh gone
Of a page we once turned
For our hearts motives;
For His gain and not mine

Still we see the city
Its villas arrayed in awe
Still we know its gaze, it smiles timely
On destiny's affirm
