Fearless Love

by Meena Krish   May 28, 2013

Torrents of feelings she unleashes
throwing unfelt anger at his presence
taking all she has to push him away,
but...
his smile breaks through
hanging brightly, fearless,
hasty retreat not a trait.

She lets loose hidden pain
shattering earth with her weight
shadowing the glow of life,
it...
dims his everlasting smile yet he
dares to break through her black veil,
devoted...devoted for life.

    Torrents of feelings she unleashes
throwing unfelt anger at his presence
taking all she has to push him away,

The stream of involuntarily poured feelings came out as a result of so hard trial of a love
story. It must have some terrible events that she let go her endless and unfelt anger.

    but...
    his smile breaks through
    hanging brightly, fearless,
    hasty retreat not a trait.

This strange feature (his smile) reveals how much strong his action makes through the hasty retreat. That's a powerful stanza.

    She lets loose hidden pain
    shattering earth with her weight
    shadowing the glow of life,

The despair stage sometimes yields an explosive ending that makes us completely blind, not seeing the glow of life, especially if it comes out from a hidden pain.

    it...
dims his everlasting smile yet he
dares to break through her black veil,
    devoted...devoted for life.

That's a powerful ending since it gives an idea of tradition exemplified in her black veil.

Overall: In my opinion, this story is a summary of fully detailed story well-penned in few lines which later on gave such powerful poem. I loved the contents. They show that love predominates at the end, no matter how cruel are the circumstances.
You penned a master piece Meena.

I liked the use of ellipsis a lot because it just sets the tone of the poem for me. Whenever I read this, the voice inside my head is quite soft and a bit typical of nature poems but what makes it different is that it's dramatic. The repetition in the end made it for me.

There's a certain curiosity/mysticism about this poem as to the anguish and emotion behind the lady's veil!

    Interesting !
