You Have the Future, Never Regret of the Past [String Senryu]

by Khalid M Darwish   May 30, 2013

Two things destroy you:
To be concerned of the past
and of the others

If you knock the door
of the past sad memories
you lose the future

And if you witness
what others possess you lose
half of your comfort

I understood that without the past there is no future, so never regret the past since it is because of it that we have a future to look ahead.

^^A very good opening to catch hold of the reader's attention and it is true for these things do destroy you.

    If you knock the door
    of the past sad memories
    you lose the future

^^We get caught in this web it is hard to escape its grip and will not only eat us but destroy the good that is ahead of us!

Overall a very, very good message for one to think about...as always an excellent write.

The whole message of this poem is to not let your past control you. The past is behind you for a reason, do not knock down a hopeful future for past memories.

Also, don't focus your attention on what others have that you don't, it will only control your envy and make you bitter.

Great write, thought provoking as always!
