Cup of Tea

by Daylight Lucidity   Jun 6, 2013

Do you see the tears that make my smile glisten?
Do you feel my hesitation in the calm silence?
Waiting until the moment you leave
To save your precious innocence
Before the care I possess ruins the friendship I cherish
Since that first cup of tea
Enjoying the company of someone so lavish
Veiling almost all the terrifying pain.
Your lips upon my hand soothes the ache in my eyes
Keeping the tears from falling
Knocking on my carefully placed mask and try
Easing it off, no other looking at it twice, causing
My heart to flee and fly away with lovely shadows.
From the moment I sat across from you, I knew you were unique
Your laugh, your smile, your blushes continuously making my heart stutter
Making my normally strong knees weak
Leaving me to subtly shudder.
You are amazing in every way a person can be
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes
I kiss your forehead and silently hope that one day, maybe
You will understand.
With one deep, trembling breath
I whisper into the darkness of night
That that first cup of tea was a shrouded chance
At a true smile, if I tried to keep my feelings out of sight.
One hug. I give you a hug as a display of friendship
Silencing the hard, uneasy pounding of my heart
Orchestrating a happy facade for your delight
While I mutely watch sincere feelings depart.
Thank you for showing me kindness
And giving me the gift of a friend.

Hey, that tea is too good not to share. Too bad it doesn't fall from the sky ;)

This is really sweet. Holds a lot of emotion and you can really feel it no matter how hard you try to hide it.

Elegantly worded, lovely, beautiful, heartfelt. Amazing write :)
