I am a particle of dust.

by Mona   Jun 29, 2013

As I puff on my last cigarette

My eyes water

My throat is raspy

And my lips are dry

Everything seems irrelevant

Insignificant

Sadness lingers within my heart

My soul aches

I drop to the cold marble floor

My bony hands cover my face

Violent sobs now rack my bruised body

Moonlight shines upon me

I gaze dreamily into space

Waiting to become a particle of dust

Very sad write, you express your solitude in a tangible way as well as lament maybe for a life that isn't filled with questions and the unknown.... I like the opening lines how you describe parts of your body being this and that, but how in the end, it doesn't even matter because this sadness is basically like your only vision. Don't give up hope though that there will be other things in life, sadness won't dominate..... Good image with the moonlight in the end, definitely felt the dream-like quality to it as well as a hopeless surrender to the night, to become nothing special and just a particle of dust. You expressed a lot of emotion with few lines.

    Take care & keep writing!
