Bittersweet memory

by Mona   Jul 12, 2013

In the dim lights

I see you. You see me.

Eyes locked

Deafening silence

Once, you were my God

And now,

You are nothing but a memory

A bittersweet memory

Please do not stare at me

For I am fragile and weak

I feel naked

I look away, you come near me

You kiss my cheek softly

And I stare in wonder

Confusion. Chaos.

The waves of memories

within me crash silently

My beloved, your ice blue eyes

They frighten me now

They gleam at me like

sunlight beaming

into the windows of my soul

Rooted to the ground,

I heighten the blinds of my heart

Once I used to look at you with a burning in my eyes

Flames radiating desire are the fires most violent

I know because

Now, all is burnt and what is left is ashes

of what used to be so beautiful

Deep dark circles

under my sullen eyes

Kiss me goodbye and let me go...

Great poem of a bittersweet memory. This line captivated me.......

    They gleam at me like
    sunlight beaming
into the windows of my soul.

    Amazing expression!
