Missing You (song)

by Maher   Dec 25, 2013

The time has come to say goodbye,
I'm sorry I have to leave today.
Whatever happens, don't you cry,
just keep that smile on your pretty face.
Thank you for the times we shared,
I'll think about them every day.
And all those times you made me laugh,
by God, I've never felt this way.

But you should know,
that I wish I'd never let you go.
'Cause you're unreal,
and I can't help the way I feel.

So when I go, don't you cry,
I'm only on the other side of the world
missing you,
wishing you were here with me.
But maybe some day we'll meet again,
when I can find the means to take me there.
I'd give my all,
just to be with you once more.

I'll miss your eyes staring into mine
and the whiteness of your perfect skin.
The gorgeous smiles you'd give to me
and the sharpness of those pretty teeth.
I'll miss that accent that you have,
I swear it brings me to my knees.
And your personality,
the most perfect thing I've ever seen.

And you should know,
I'm the happiest I've ever been,
when you're around,
you're the reason I don't wanna leave.

So when I go, don't you cry,
I'm only on the other side of the world
missing you,
wishing you were here with me.
I know some day we'll meet again,
I'll do everything to fly me through the air,
to have the chance
to give you anything you need.

If I could, I'd take you with me
and I'd never let you leave.
Do anything to keep you happy,
anything to give you ease.

So when I go, don't you cry,
I'm only on the other side of the world
missing you,
wishing you were here with me.
But if we never get to meet again,
could I get you to do one thing, if you can?
Please, don't forget me.
Remember who I am.

Some background to this song:

I wrote this song for the same person who inspired me to write 'Patience'. We met on the internet over 10 years ago when I was 14, and I have loved her since. I finally took the chance to visit her in the USA and she is the most amazing, beautiful, fun and smart person I have ever met and ever will meet. I sincerely wish, with everything I have, that I had stayed with her and had been patient enough to wait another year or 2 to meet her for the first time, under much better circumstances. I'm incredibly upset that I have to leave and go back home, and that is where this song comes from.

    Maher,

If you keep winning our club competitions, I am going to run out of pieces to comment on of yours!
As to the write, I see by your footnote that this was written when you were fourteen! That's incredible. There's a clear talent for lyric here already and I can almost imagine a guitar being strummed along to it.

So when I go, don't you cry,
I'm only on the other side of the world
    missing you,

    ^^

    Excellent line.

    All the very best,

    Ben

Lol thank you Ben, but you've misunderstood, good Sir! I met the girl when I was fourteen, but I wrote this song about 3yrs ago when I went to see her in person, so I can't take your full compliment there. In regard to winning the club competitions, they must have been flukes, my friend. I just got lucky is all :)
