I know that this is a silly request
And that you have important things to do
But as I kneel at my bed tonight
I have one thing to beg of you

I ask that you help me to forget his face
His smile, his smell, his name
Help me to forget all the memories
Keep me from going insane

Help me to forget his touch
And how it felt when he laid beside me
Help me to understand that all loves aren't forever
And that this is just the way it had to be

Help me to not dream about him
When I close my eyes tonight
Help me to stop the constant thoughts
Of how I could make us right

Help me to not want for him
Make this hurt go away
Help me to heal my heart
Stitch by stitch each day

And last, God I ask that I cry not one more tear
For surely they are all in vain
