Love

It's been said that love finds the patient and unconcerned
I've been patient and there are some things that I have learned
Love can be kind and understanding
It can be hard and demanding
Yet it will prevail and the strong will be left standing
While the weak wither and fall
That heartbreak was the last straw
To the pile of hurt that rests on their back
Almost too heavy to bare, too many burdens to stack
Too hard to get back on track
To find love again almost seems like an impossible feat
mainly due to the fear of another slab of hurt to add to the load
Too scared to see true love unfold
Too timid to initiate a "hello"
The thought of rejection soon follows
Yet I'm luckily to be built tough and made to last
So easy would it be to let my future be ruined because of my past
I've made it through heartbreaks, you would think a spell was cast
My heart so deeply planted in the faith of love
I've prayed nightly to the man up above
"Dear Lord please heal this broken heart of mine,
I'm done with this pain, I think I've done my time.
Please cleanse my soul and provide forgiveness
I just can't live like this"
My burdens were lifted
My fears were shattered
And better days is what I was given.
Visions of lost loves vanished
Memories of tearfull nights diminished
I am able to give and receive the love that I deserve
I've packed up my yesterdays and put them by the curb
Moral of the story...Love is more than a four letter word!
