Knight of Day

by Maple Tree   Feb 2, 2014

I felt a pinch-
from a rising feather.

Black as coal but soft
as cotton.

Out of hell he arose above
darkness,
angelic demon
kissing innocence.

Leather coursed his veins,
laceing diamond emotions,
dazzling my resistance
to feed upon his words
like a hungry, broken sparrow.

My wings were white as crystal snow
and for once in my life, tasting evil
felt right-

He was pure goodness in a world of hatred,
learning that I too birthed a shade of fire-

Dark "knight" has risen to embrace
her soulless eyes,

she is the sun,
together they complete
night and day.

This is so beautiful and the imagery just comes out and grabs the reader. The story unfolds into a dark romance, making the heart sigh. Excellent write!

    Hi

What different poem, yet so like life, a bit ying and yang. We are attrackted to the darker sides in us, it is like you are showing more of yourself here. I mean that in the most positive way.
You have many layers here that has to be unfolded in new style of poems
I have been a fan of your poems, but this is the one of a million.

Your wording and imagery always get to me Andrea. To me this poem is about a person with a beautiful heart and a person with a "dark" heart. That come together as one. They do say opposites attract. The message of this poem to me is don't judge a book by their cover or don't judge a person by they look. Because here you are saying the person with a "dark" heart is the good and you can see the good in people. The ending is perfect. It captures the poem well as two souls can come together no matter what. Overall this is a beautiful write. Nominated!
