Letter to My Husband- Valentines Day

by Maple Tree   Feb 10, 2014

Dear Hunny-

It's significant, sacred and sentimental
for the misspelling of your nick name,
for I am not your average Wife,
who plays by the norm.

I wanted to craft a love sonnet for you,
etched with elegant rhyme and romantic
wording, but the flow didn't feel right.

Each year on Valentines Day I create a
silly love rhyme that makes you face palm,
grin and shake your head,

laughter is good and for us it's essential
to our health and daily living,

but this year... I decided to toss away the metaphors,
ditch the rhyme, and just let it flow freely from my heart.

Words can't begin to express my love for you.

How can a woman with a rocky road past begin to tell the man who showed her the true meaning of everlasting love, that she's thankful?

I always thought it was best to stay guarded, not to feel emotions such as true love-

until you came into my life.

You were dressed in a black leather jacket,
Handsome beyond my wildest dreams, and those eyes,
that smile of yours,

it melted me into a puddle of emotions, when I was surrounded within a foot of New York snow.

I couldn't catch my breath that day, because finally
you found me... finally.

Our first year of marriage was very trying, testing our hearts, twisted in powerful emotions of disease and depression,

in time we grew stronger and we built a bond that is unbreakable.

Yes my love we have flaws, but we built laughter into our days, and passion in our nights, to make those flaws
insignificant in the end.

Mr Pike, you know I'm a writer of metaphors and silly rhymes, so yes the tears are flowing, because it's a very emotional thing to express to someone just how much they mean to them... You did more than marry me and become my Forever Valentine-

You saved me from thinking that true love does not exist- You showed me it does and for that dear man,

I am always and forever, eternally yours <3

Happy Valentines Day ~

These are the things that give me hope, that maybe someday, I won't have to spend another valentines ever again alone.

And there really is something sexy about black leather jackets, isn't there? That's what She, the woman I write so much about, wore the first time we shared a kiss under the moonlight and fireworks dazzling.

I hope your love can last forever, and that soulmates really never do die.
