Heart Candy Thoughts

by BlueJay   Feb 14, 2014

I know you were already here,
that I missed you by minutes
and maybe a second or two.

The words are said so easily,
so much that they don't seem
to mean anything now.

But just in case the cliche's
and corny messages make
you smile the way they used to:

Be mine, you have my heart
I love you, I miss you, hug me,
kiss me, and know that I...

I am always thinking of you,
because as it implied by the day's
commercial theme, I LOVE YOU.

I really like the idea you used here, of the candy hearts, and how the messages on them are so sweet, but cliché. You used this well in the poem to portray what you wanted to say to this person, and how you are aware of how over heard the phrases are, but you feel them and want to express them.

It was a true enough line on your second stanza, when words are said so much that they do not seem to mean as much as they do when they are not said often.

It raises the question of telling people you love them. If you tell them every day, will they really feel it, but if you do not say it enough, will they know it.

    Interesting poem. xx
