What You Are

by Maher   Feb 21, 2014

You're my beat without the rhymes
You're like a pretty melody
A tune with all the vibe it needs
That doesn't drone incessantly

You're my moon and all the stars
That could be counted in the sky
Though if there were so many of you
I'd truly think I'd died

You're my beach without the waves
A calming figure in my mind
It sucks that I can't swim
Or I'd be in you all the time

You're the roof that stops the rain
When I'm caught and feeling weak
I know I wear you down at times
But please, don't spring a leak

You're the f- I'll never give
Because I want you for myself
If a man would try to take you away
I'll send him straight to hell

You're the one I'd give my life to save
If ever it need be done
I hope you don't get carried away
That life, I've only one

But really, I'll end the dad jokes
And I'll cut right to the chase
You're the one thing I can't do without
And nothing can take your place
