Practice

So I want to rhyme, is that a crime?
I can assure you is not a waste of time.
I've been doing this my entire life.
okay, I'm kidding. It's been only tonight.

Ah, well, may be since a year and a half?
I seriously don't remember when I began.
It could have been three years ago...
but seriously, how should I know?

Time goes by too fast - faster
than my memory could recall.
Though, I've been doing eye, near...
and perfect rhymes in a roll.

Some say, I need to follow a pattern
and that I must meter my words.
But I think none of that matters
if I don't understand how that works.

I like the simplicity of this write and the smoothness it holds till the end. The more we write, we find a rhythm of our own. Whether it is rhyme or not it sticks around and it becomes perfect, just like this! Loved it!

I really love this poem lucero. I think the overall poem is talking about how we all learn different styles of poetry and once we find what works for us then we can truly grow and I think this is what you mean. Rhyming or not we must find what we love to write. This poem has a simplicity to it but it speaks to me. The lines sends a message like you are talking to another person. Time does go by fast I agree. But as time goes by we learn to become more mature. I liked the subtle rhymes personally because they work well. And lastly I liked your final stanza because people can tell you how to write nut it doesn't matter because it only matters what you want. Lovely
