A Final Thought

by Chris Swiderski   Mar 24, 2014

At moment's end, he took a pause,
To fathom all that living was.
In a flash of light he did take flight,
Across an open sea's hidden memories.
To which places, faces and things abound;
Near leaving eye-shot of the ground.
Taking in and taken back
As that was then, not this, but that.
The theories queried, myths now buried,
Led instead to what's ahead.
Whence he came at last to future's past;
A mainline to the Breather's vine.
And so enrapture into it's cause,
He understood what meaning was.

    I am simply taken aback and everything more - this is fantastic. Absolutely spot on.

    The rhyming, the rhythm, the way it makes the reader just continue non-stop! It's great. I don't even know what to say. I'll let you know what I can say though, and that is that I love the ending and how it all makes meaningful sense!

    'And so enrapture into it's cause,
    He understood what meaning was'

    It's just perfect! Great read, thank you :)

      Hehe, well thank you. I'm happy to have put a smile on your face! ^.^

      I actually wrote this while feeling down, as it was an expression of my thoughts on a friend who passed away... What it may have been like in his final moment. Though, he was a cheery fellow, so the poem itself, I felt, had to reflect such.
