Collecting Dust

by Jenni Marie   Apr 26, 2014

Thomas is collecting dust
and his face is a little shady;
yet his scent remains the same
as it did almost one year ago
to the day.

He smells of talcum powder
and johnsons baby soap
and his scent spreads from
one side to the other.

I like to bury my face in
him, because-because that
way I feel closer to you.
That's why I can't replace
him, because he smells just
like you the last time you lay
your innocent little head on
him and cuddled close with him.

It's probably not hygenic, but
he's the only one in the house
that still has lingering remains
upon him-

of you.

Thomas=Thomas the tank engine bed covers.

Aw, the reference here is heartwarming and expresses that sadness and love for the memories of him. I remember you told me how much he loves Thomas the tank engine and it's in those little reminders that you can be closer to him.

Beautifully written, I loved it already and even more when the significance sunk in. I also think the title is perfect.
